Faden quartz is a unique variety of quartz that gets its name from the German "Fadenquarz". Faden is translated to "thread", referring to the white line found running through the crystal. This occurs as fissures within its host rock begin to separate, leaving room for a silica-rich solution to heal to crack. Because this repair process is much quicker than the natural growth of the crystal, it leaves this "scar" in the center. This is sometimes covered in other materials such as chlorite.

Quartz is the second most abundant mineral on Earth accounting for around 12 % of the Earth's crust. Its name is derived from the German word "quarz" meaning hard. Quartz can form in trigonal or hexagonal crystal systems depending on the temperature during formation. Crystallized quartz ideally forms a six-sided crystal terminating with six-sided pyramids. The majority of quartz forms from molten magma. The largest quartz crystal ever found was located near Itapore, Goiaz, Brazil. It measured over 23 feet long and weighed 88,000 pounds.
Clear Quartz is the master healer of all minerals. Quartz is used to program and amplify the intentions and energies you set forth. It is also paired with other minerals to magnify their properties.
