Anatase is a form of titanium dioxide. Pure anatase is clear or white but is more often found similar to this specimen, dark in color due to impurities found in the crystals. This mineral is always found in sharp, tetragonal systems. The crystal's structure is known as octahedral, but anatase crystals have a longer vertical axis. Anatase is formed synthetically to be used as a semiconductor.
