Cobaltoan Calcite is a rather rare variety of calcite that contains inclusions of cobalt. The amount of cobalt contained within the specimen usually determines how pink the specimen is. It is very difficult to find fully formed calcite crystals that are saturated as pink as this piece. Most of the commercial-grade cobaltoan calcite is druzy crystals set on a matrix. This variety of calcite was first discovered in Tuscany, Italy. Many collectors pride themselves if they own high-quality cobaltoan calcite specimens.

Cobaltoan Calcite is said to help you discover your true emotions, unearthing them from deep within. It is said to help "drop your guard" in relation to the emotions you may have been hiding for so long. Although this may be uncomfortable as you begin, it will remind you how strong you are as a person, leading to perseverance and accomplishment.
