This genus of prawns lived during the Upper Jurassic and Cretaceous periods (160 million years ago to 66 million years ago. There are currently only three own species to be classified under this genus.

Fossils from this area of Lebanon have been discovered for centuries as proved in the writings of Herodotus (~480 BCE to ~420 BCE). Scientists first began excavating these fossils to study during the 1800s. Currently, there have been nearly 100 various species found in these deposits, including soft-bodied preservation.
