Dugway Geodes are one-of-a-kind geodes found in the center of Utah with a rich history. Roughly 6 to 8 million years ago, during the Miocene, a great deal of volcanic activity took place, allowing for the formation of the rock rhyolite. As gasses tried to escape the bed of rhyolite, they formed bubbles that were eventually with elements and minerals carried by groundwater. Thousands of years ago, the area was covered with a body of water known as Lake Bonneville. The activity in this lake moved the already-formed geodes to the modern-day geode beds. While these geodes come in many different sizes, they almost all contain some form of quartz or chalcedony. Rarely, you will find some with more colors such as pink and purple. If you are ever in the area, make sure to look up the location as you are able to mine your own!

You will receive the specimen pictured. Colors may vary based on screen size and resolution.
