Picture Jasper is sought after for its ability to mimic mountainous landscapes. Picture jasper often contains manganese oxide dendrites. They get their name from the Greek word "dendron", meaning tree. These dendrites are branches of manganese crystals that have grown out and over the surface of their host rock, giving off an organic look. This most commonly occurs when water rich in manganese and iron flow through layers of limestone. The word jasper is derived from the Greek word "iaspi", meaning spotting stone. Jasper is classified as quartz that contains up to 20% inclusions or foreign materials.
Picture Jasper promotes grounding and a deeper connection to the Earth. It instills a sense of comfort and harmony.
