Red Jasper has had a strong place in many cultures over the years. Ancient Egyptians linked it to the fertility of Mother Isis while Native Americans believed it was the blood of Mother Earth. The word jasper is derived from the Greek word "iaspi", meaning spotting stone. Jasper is classified as quartz that contains up to 20% inclusions or foreign materials. The red of this mineral is caused by the presence of iron oxides.
