Rubellite is a gemstone found in the family of tourmalines. It can vary in color from reds to pinks to purples. It gets its name from the Latin word "rubellus" meaning reddish. These tumbled stones are small crystals of rubellite tourmaline formed inside of a quartz matrix. Rubellite tourmalines are considered some of the nicest specimens to date because of their colors.
