This fossilized oyster also referred to as the denture clam, acted just as oysters today. It lived in the intertidal zone and was a filter feeder. It gets its name from the "Zig-Zag" pattern between the shells. This helped prevent any dirt and other debris from damaging the soft tissues found inside.
