Larimar is a silicate pectolite only found in one mine on Earth. Rumors of a mystical blue stone began to spread around the island during the early 1900s. A priest was interested in finding this stone, but his request to explore the mines at the time was denied. It was not until 1974 that a specimen of Larimar was washed up on the beach by a gentleman named Miguel. He took the name of his daughter, Larissa, and the Spanish word for sea, "mar", to create larimar. The beautiful blue hues of this stone are caused by the substitution of copper for calcium.
Larimar represents peace and clarity. It facilitates inner wisdom through radiation of love and healing energies.
