This fluorite specimen is a great example of the mineral. Rainbow fluorite is famous for its hues of purple, green, and yellow. This slab has gorgeous chevron patterning. Most commercial rainbow fluorite grows in large chunks in Eastern Asia that is cut into sectioned and polished for display.
Fluorite, also known as flurospar, is classified as a halide mineral. It most commonly forms in a cubic crystal structure but is also found in octahedral and other complex forms. Pure fluorite is crystal clear, but various impurities give it a wide spectrum of colors including greens, blues, purples, and yellows. Its name comes from the Latin word "fluere", meaning to flow. Fluorspar was first described in the early 1530s by a German scientist. The term fluorite came in 1852 from the discovery of fluorescence under ultraviolet light due to impurities in the mineral.
Fluorite is great for increasing the powers of concentration and self-confidence. This stone assists in decision-making and neutralizing negative energies.
