Tourmaline is a boron silicate mineral that is formed with elements such as aluminum, iron, magnesium, sodium, lithium, and potassium. Because it can be formed this so many different ways, it comes in just as many colors. The first tourmalines were said to be brought back to Europe from the Dutch East India Company. It occurs in long, columnar crystals that can be thin or thick and contain a triangular cross-section when cut. Tourmaline crystals are popular among both collectors and jewelers alike as they often contain a multitude of colors that are both vibrant and saturated. Some of the most popular are labeled as "Watermelon Tourmalines" as they are green with a pink center. Others are dichroic, meaning they change colors when viewed from various angles.
Tourmaline is not a one-trick pony when it comes to metaphysics. The most popular tourmaline used during practice is schorl (black tourmaline). However, different colored tourmalines often carry different properties. This is important when learning to work with them...
Pink is used for people dealing with stress and needs time to heal. It is often used to assist with panic attacks and build sympathy towards others. This stone radiates love.
